Ray Sargent

Harnessing your Creativity

Ron Sargent is undoubtedly a master of harnessing creativity. Just take a brief look at his background. Just out of university, working for GM, he developed one of the first mechanical cruise controls for cars along with doing extensive developmental work on fuel pumps, air ride components as well as a vacuum window lift system. In 1963 he co-founded with his father and brother the Thetford® Corporation which focused on sanitary equipment for recreational vehicles. As the president of this company for the first 11 years, he guided its’ growth from a $2400.00 investment to $18,000,000.00 in annual sales. It was during this time that he created the camping PortaPotti® for which my wife and I will be eternally grateful but that is another story. Suffice to say, we never left home for the woods without it.
He went on to have a stellar career that included the Polaris pool cleaner, 9 fountains in Epcot Center and a whole lot more which you can read about under the profile tab at www.ideationinsitute.com , his latest venture. There he and his son do all sorts of development for large companies as well as individuals like us.  Ron also wrote a book with Steve Cuden called, “15 Minutes For The Mouse (Your Guide To High Performance Creative Thinking) that became the model for a course he developed and gave to Fortune 500 companies for a small fortune. This is what he will be sharing with us.

I have personally read the book and found it enlightening. As inventors we are often told or believe that we have too much creativity for our own good. However, you will be surprised to learn that there are times we should give in to our wildest fantasies to raise the bar of our inventions to the next level to achieve disruptiveness and Profits!

Some of the most impressive inventions have come from individuals who dared to dream and worked very hard to make that dream a reality. It is time to stop dreaming and get to work. This is a great way to take that first step.
